01What is CSIR NET ?
The CSIR-UGC NET (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – National Eligibility Test) is a national-level exam conducted in India to determine eligibility for: Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) Lectureship/Assistant Professor positions in the field of Mathematical Sciences and other science disciplines. 👉 Why CSIR NET for Maths? Get eligibility for research (Ph.D.) or college-level teaching. Fellowship up to ₹37,000/month during Ph.D. Prestigious career in academics, research, or public sector.
02CSIR NET Mathematics Syllabus
The syllabus is divided into three main parts: Part A – General Aptitude (Common for All Subjects) Logical reasoning Graphical analysis Analytical and numerical ability Quantitative comparisons Series formation, puzzles, probability, percentages Part B – Core Mathematics (Conceptual Questions) Focuses on fundamental concepts and formula-based questions from: 1. Linear Algebra Vector spaces, basis, linear transformations Eigenvalues, eigenvectors, Cayley-Hamilton theorem Inner product spaces 2. Real Analysis Sequences and series, convergence Continuity, differentiability Riemann integrals, sequences of functions 3. Complex Analysis Analytic functions, Cauchy-Riemann equations Cauchy’s integral theorem/formula Singularities, Laurent series, residue theorem 4. Algebra Groups, subgroups, normal subgroups Rings, ideals, fields, homomorphisms Fundamental theorems of group and ring theory 5. Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) Existence and uniqueness Systems of differential equations Linear ODEs with constant coefficients 6. Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) Classification and methods of solutions Heat, wave, Laplace equations Part C – Advanced Mathematics (Application-Based Problems) These questions test the deep understanding and application of concepts. Topics include: 7. Topology Open/closed sets, continuity Compactness, connectedness Metric spaces and topological spaces 8.
